ME& this weeks tube strike

Well I’ve been forced to be an even earlier bird this week thanks to the Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Tube Union boss Bob Crow. The tube strike meant I have been getting up just before 5am to make it into work for 7am. Still at least I’ve finished work early this week but it’s still taken 2hours to do my 40min journey home.

It was however to nice to see that Boris pulled out all the stops to make sure there capital was ready for the extra strain by making part of Trafalgar Square a bicycle park – I noticed when I passed it at about 4pm on both Wednesday and Thursday that there were only four bikes parked. Obviously space well utilised and money well spent on hiring security to guard them!

The one good thing I took from it was the fact that I never go on buses so having to rely on them made me see how beautiful London is, how old and decorative some of the buildings in the city truly are – something you miss while travelling on the rat infested sewer trains know as the tube.

I also started training for my half marathon this week and realised how unfit I’ve become having not graced a gym with my presence in about three months. I did manage to run two mile in about 25mins but I was knackered afterward and covered in sweat. I have a funny feeling I may be fast walking the marathon in Sept.
